Publishing Help

If you’re thinking of publishing a book and you don’t know where to start, I can help you choose your path. If you’d like to self-publish a book and don’t want to do it alone, I’ll be your guide.

Self-publishing your book doesn’t require doing everything yourself. Pushing through the considerable learning curve and managing all the moving parts of book production might not be the best use of your time.

As your publishing advisor, I can explain your options, help you decide if self-publishing is right for you, and recommend great service providers.

If you’d like to work with me throughout the self-publishing process, I’ll manage your book’s production by:

  • Acting as a liaison between you and your service providers,
  • Monitoring and supervising the many steps in the publishing process, and
  • Ensuring the project processes smoothly, on time, and within your budget.

If you’re not sure whether you should go it alone or hire a consultant to help you self-publish, just contact me. We’ll schedule a short phone consultation to talk about your book concept and help you decide if working with a publishing advisor is right for you.

If you’re in Chicago, we’d love to have you join my Chicago Self-Publishing Group and Chicago Women in Publishing (CWIP) — don’t let the name fool you; men are welcome, too!

We started with a giant pile of information, articles, blog posts and notes. Thanks to Kim, it is now a self-published book. She rewrote sections and reorganized the structure, all while keeping me on track. Communication was smooth and her direct input was invaluable. When I ran out of steam and asked her to get this across the finish line, she jumped in and got it done. It’s impossible for me to imagine that this project would have been completed within a reasonable time frame had I not had Kim’s help. I highly recommend talking to Kim, for anyone seriously considering writing a book!
